Treasures of the province of Alicante

Report about our hotel in the magazine Tesoros of the province of Alicante.

Casa Julia will be a “high-altitude” mountain bike center. And not only that, Casa Julia is a hotel in the center of Parcent with a fascinating history. First it was the Casa del Chileno, then Casa Juliana, and now Casa Julia. Every corner is an open book whose pages are family memories, evocations of hard-working generations, tenacity, fortune and work. Ismael, the current owner, will welcome us with the smile of a man whose life is dedicated to the well-being of others and make the client feel at home.

Miguel Moncho Mora, son of Parcent, made his fortune in Chile. Linked to the world of entertainment, he was one of the precursors of silent cinema and came to own a good percentage of shares in the company Nitrato de Chile. When he returned to Spain, he built this stately house, in a modernist and colonial style in the Indian taste of the time. It then had more light than the entire town of Parcent.

Don Miguel drowned in the shipwreck of the Prince of Asturias, our Titanic, a steam ship that sank off the Brazilian coast in 1916. The house of Parcent passed to his sister Ana, a teacher by profession and a woman of great sensitivity and high cultural level, something unusual at that time. Upon Ana's death, the house passed to her sister Juliana, who converted it into a hotel and died without issue. The house, already in ruins, was acquired by the Reig-Llobell family, native of Parcent, and with extensive experience in restoration, who turned it into a Hotel-Restaurant.

In the recovery of the house and the renovation works, the current owners respected the original structure of the house, gained height to have more light in the rooms and in the central patio, and restored the mural paintings on the walls . The exterior of the house is surrounded by a garden in which most of the species are the same as those planted by the original owner, including the two superb palm trees at the main entrance. At the back of the garden there is a terrace covered by a tent that makes the stay more pleasant, both in summer and winter, and it will be here where all the necessary services for the Vall de Pop MTB Center will be.
